Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest town, Musanze. Head south towards the main road (N4) and follow the signs towards Kinigi. Once you reach Kinigi, continue on the N4 road, paying attention to local signage for Kasoko Mabungo. The destination is approximately 10 kilometers from Kinigi, and you should be able to spot the signs leading you to Kasoko Mabungo. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain as some parts of the road may be unpaved.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a moto-taxi or a local bus from Musanze to Kinigi. The bus station in Musanze has regular departures to Kinigi. Once you arrive in Kinigi, you can hire a moto-taxi to take you directly to Kasoko Mabungo. Make sure to agree on the fare beforehand; expect to pay around 2000 Rwandan Francs for this short trip. The journey from Kinigi to Kasoko Mabungo takes about 20 minutes.
Hiking
If you're feeling adventurous and are already at a higher elevation in Karisimbi Volcano, you can hike to Kasoko Mabungo. From your current location, find a local guide who can help you navigate the trails. The hike can take approximately 1 to 2 hours depending on your pace and the trail conditions. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking gear and carry enough water and snacks for your trip.
