Getting There

  • Taxi

    From any location in Rubavu, you can take a moto-taxi (motorcycle taxi) to Kinigi. Simply ask the driver to take you to 'Bisoke Hike' or 'Kinigi'. The journey will take around 30-45 minutes depending on traffic and road conditions. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand, which should be around 3000-5000 RWF.

  • Public Transport

    You can take a bus from Rubavu to Musanze. Head to the bus station in Rubavu and look for buses heading to Musanze. Once you arrive in Musanze, look for a moto-taxi to take you to Kinigi. It is advisable to inform the taxi driver that you want to go to 'Bisoke Hike' to avoid confusion. The total journey may take about 1.5-2 hours.

  • Walking

    If you're feeling adventurous and are staying nearby, you can walk towards Kinigi. From the center of Rubavu, head towards the main road leading out of the town. Follow the signs for 'Kinigi' and 'Musanze'. It is approximately a 15 km walk, and it will take you about 3-4 hours. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water, as the path can be challenging.
