Getting There

Walking
From the center of Ruhengeri, head west towards Avenue de la Revolution. Follow this road for about 1 kilometer until you reach the main roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Avenue du Lac. Continue on this road for approximately 3 kilometers until you reach the entrance to the Nyiragongo National Park, which is where the hike to Mt Nyiragongo begins. There should be signs directing you to the park entrance.

Bicycle
If you have access to a bicycle, you can follow a similar route as walking. Start from the center of Ruhengeri and cycle west towards Avenue de la Revolution for about 1 kilometer. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Avenue du Lac. This route is about 3 kilometers and should take around 15 minutes on a bicycle. Once you arrive at the Nyiragongo National Park entrance, secure your bicycle in the designated area before starting your hike.

Motorbike Taxi (Moto)
To reach Mt Nyiragongo via motorbike taxi, simply find a nearby moto driver in Ruhengeri. Tell them you want to go to the Nyiragongo National Park entrance. The ride should take approximately 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey. Once you arrive at the park entrance, you will be set to begin your hike up the volcano.
