If you are driving from the main entrance of Mount Rushmore National Memorial, head south on SD-244 for about 0.5 miles. Turn left onto US-16 Scenic. Continue on this road for approximately 3 miles. You will see the Scovel Johnson Tunnel on your right. There is parking available nearby.

If you are using public transportation, take the local shuttle service that operates from the Mount Rushmore Visitor Center. Board the shuttle heading towards Keystone. Get off at the stop closest to US-16 Scenic. From there, it is about a 10-minute walk to the Scovel Johnson Tunnel, heading west along US-16 Scenic.
