    From Mount Rushmore, start at the main parking area. Head south towards SD-244 and follow the signs towards Custer. Once you reach SD-244, take a left and continue walking on the side of the road. After approximately 2.5 miles, you will reach the junction with SD-87. Turn left onto SD-87, and continue walking for about 5.5 miles. You will see the Needles Eye Tunnel sign on your left. The tunnel is located at Mile Post 31.

    If you have access to a bicycle, start at Mount Rushmore and follow the same path as the hiking route. Ride south on SD-244 until you reach SD-87, approximately 2.5 miles. Turn left onto SD-87 and continue for about 5.5 miles. Look for the Needles Eye Tunnel, which will be on your left at Mile Post 31. Biking is a great way to enjoy the scenery!

    While there is no direct public transportation to Needles Eye Tunnel, you can take a shuttle or bus that goes from Mount Rushmore to Custer State Park.
