From the center of Ella, head towards the Ella Railway Station. Once you reach the station, take the road leading north towards the main highway (A23). This road will take you to a junction with the highway. At this junction, take a left turn onto the A23 highway, heading towards Kandy. Follow the highway for approximately 10 kilometers until you reach the town of Katugastota. Look for signs directing you to Weheragala Temple (Thalaguna Sthupa) as you enter the town. You may need to ask locals for the exact location as it is a bit off the main road.

From Ella, walk to the Ella Bus Station located near the town center. Board a bus heading towards Kandy. Inform the bus conductor that you wish to get off at Katugastota. The bus ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Katugastota, you can ask locals for directions to Weheragala Temple (Thalaguna Sthupa), which is a short walk from the bus stop.
