Getting There

  • Bus

    From Galle, head to the Galle bus station, which is located near the Galle Fort. Look for a bus heading to Matara; these buses frequently leave throughout the day. The journey will take approximately 30 to 45 minutes. Once you arrive at the Matara bus station, exit the bus and walk towards the main road.

  • Walking

    After exiting the bus at Matara, walk straight along the main road. You will pass several shops and cafes. Continue walking for about 15-20 minutes until you reach the beach area. Look for signs directing you towards Matara Beach (மாத்தறை கடற்கரை). You should see the beach entrance, which is marked with a sign.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    Alternatively, after reaching Matara bus station, you can take a tuk-tuk to Matara Beach. There are usually tuk-tuks waiting outside the bus station. Negotiate the fare (it should be around 200 LKR), and the ride will take about 10 minutes. Ask the driver to drop you off at Matara Beach.
