If you are driving, start at the Horton Plains National Park entrance. Head towards the main road (A26) and continue straight. After approximately 8 kilometers, look for a sign directing you to Bomburuella Reservoir on your left. Turn left onto the smaller road and follow it for about 2 kilometers until you reach the reservoir. Parking is available near the entrance.

To reach Bomburuella Reservoir by public transport, take a bus from Nuwara Eliya to Horton Plains. Once you arrive at the Horton Plains National Park entrance, you may need to hire a tuk-tuk or local taxi to reach Bomburuella Reservoir. Confirm the fare beforehand; it typically costs around 1000 LKR for the round trip. The distance from the park entrance to the reservoir is about 10 kilometers, so be prepared for a short drive.

If you prefer walking, you can hike from the Horton Plains entrance to Bomburuella Reservoir. The distance is roughly 10 kilometers and will take about 2.5 to 3 hours.
