Getting There

• Car

  From Horton Plains National Park, exit the park and head west on the A7 highway towards Nuwara Eliya. Continue driving on the A7 for approximately 22 kilometers until you reach the town of Hakgala. Look for signs directing you to the Hakgala Botanical Garden. The garden is located on the Peradeniya-Badulla-Chenkaladi Highway (WRGC+JJJ). The trip should take around 45 minutes, depending on traffic. Be aware that there may be parking fees upon arrival.

  From Horton Plains National Park, you will need to arrange a private taxi or tuk-tuk to take you to the nearest bus station in Nuwara Eliya. Once you are in Nuwara Eliya, take a bus heading towards Hakgala. Buses usually operate regularly, but be sure to check the schedule. The bus ride will take about 30 to 40 minutes, and the fare is typically around 50-100 LKR. After you disembark at the Hakgala stop, it's a short walk to the Hakgala Botanical Garden.
