Walking
From the center of Polonnaruwa, head east towards the main road (Giritale Road). Walk along Giritale Road for about 3 kilometers. You’ll pass the entrance to the Polonnaruwa Ancient City on your left. Continue straight until you reach the junction with the Giritale Wewa signboard. Turn left at the sign and follow the road for another 1 kilometer until you arrive at Giritale Wewa, a beautiful lake surrounded by lush greenery.

Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Polonnaruwa. Start your journey by cycling east along Giritale Road. The ride is approximately 3 kilometers and is mostly flat, making it an easy trip. Keep an eye out for the Polonnaruwa Ancient City on your left as you ride. Once you reach the junction with the Giritale Wewa signboard, turn left and cycle for another 1 kilometer to reach the lake.
