Getting There

    If you are starting from the Polonnaruwa Bus Stand, head northeast on Giritale - Polonnaruwa Rd towards Kachcheri Rd. Walk along Kachcheri Rd until you reach the intersection with the New Town Road (approximately 1.5 km). Turn left onto New Town Road and continue walking straight. After about 3 km, you will see a sign for Minneriya National Park. From this point, follow the trail signs leading towards the park entrance. The Animal Watch Hut is located inside the park; you may need to arrange for a safari jeep at the entrance to reach it.

    Rent a bicycle from one of the shops near the Polonnaruwa Bus Stand. Start by cycling northeast along Giritale - Polonnaruwa Rd towards Kachcheri Rd. After about 1.5 km, turn left onto New Town Road. Continue on New Town Road for approximately 3 km until you see the sign for Minneriya National Park. Follow the signs to the park entrance. Once inside the park, you can either cycle or arrange for a safari jeep to take you to the Animal Watch Hut.

    From any location in Polonnaruwa, you can hire a tuk-tuk to take you to Minneriya National Park. Simply tell the driver that you want to go to the Animal Watch Hut inside the park. The journey should take about 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting your trip. The driver will take you to the park entrance, where you can pay for entry and arrange for a safari jeep to the Animal Watch Hut.
