Walking
Start at Zermatt's train station. From the station, head east on Bahnhofstrasse, which is the main street lined with shops and restaurants. Continue on this street until you reach the end of Bahnhofstrasse, then take a left on the road that leads to the Zermatt village center. Follow the signs towards 'Gornergrat'. After about 15-20 minutes of walking, you will reach the Gornergrat railway station. Note that this is not directly to Rifugio Chaligne, but it is a good starting point for your hiking journey.
