Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from Moshi town. Head north on the B1 road towards Arusha for about 10 kilometers. Look for a sign for Materuni, which will direct you to turn left onto a dirt road. Continue on this road for approximately 5 kilometers, following the signs to Materuni Waterfalls. There is a parking area near the entrance to the waterfalls where you can leave your vehicle. Be aware that the road may become bumpy, so it's advisable to drive a vehicle suitable for unpaved roads.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Materuni Waterfalls using public transportation, first take a daladala (local minibus) from Moshi town to the Materuni village station. These daladalas typically leave from the central bus station in Moshi and the fare ranges from 1,000 to 2,000 TZS. Once you arrive at Materuni village, you can either walk to the waterfalls (about a 30-minute hike) or arrange for a local guide to take you. The walk to the waterfalls is scenic, so be sure to enjoy the views along the way.

• Taxi

  For a more comfortable option, consider hiring a taxi from Moshi to Materuni Waterfalls. This will provide a door-to-door service, and you can negotiate the fare beforehand, which should be around 30,000 to 50,000 TZS, depending on your negotiation skills and the taxi service. The taxi will take you directly to the entrance of the waterfalls, and you can arrange for the driver to wait for you while you explore the area.

• Walking

  If you are staying in Materuni village, walking to the waterfalls is a great option. The trail is well-marked and takes approximately 30 minutes. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water, as the hike can be steep in places. You can also hire a local guide to provide you with more information about the flora and fauna along the way.
