If you are in the heart of Stone Town, start at the Old Fort (Ngome Kongwe), a prominent landmark. From the Old Fort, walk towards the seafront along the Forodhani Gardens. Turn left onto the narrow street (Mzee Khamis Street) that runs parallel to the seafront.
