Getting There

  • Songthaew

    From the city center of Chiang Mai, head to the nearest Songthaew stop. You can find these red trucks around popular areas like Thapae Gate or around the Night Bazaar. Board a Songthaew heading towards Doi Suthep. The fare is typically around 30-50 THB. Inform the driver that you want to go to 'Doi Suthep', and they will drop you off at the base of the mountain. From there, you will need to either walk or hire a local taxi (or another Songthaew) to take you up to the entrance of Doi Suthep-Pui National Park.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    You can also hire a Tuk-Tuk from various locations in the city. Simply flag one down or ask your hotel to call one for you. Negotiate the fare beforehand, which should be around 200-400 THB for a round trip to Doi Suthep. The driver will take you directly to the entrance of Doi Suthep-Pui National Park. Make sure to agree on a time to return, so you won’t be stranded.

  • Walking

    If you're feeling adventurous and physically fit, you can hike to Doi Suthep. Start from the city center and follow the signs towards Suthep Road.
