From the center of Chiang Rai, head to the main bus station (Bus Terminal 1). Look for a songthaew (shared taxi) that is going towards the Sankhongluang area. You can ask locals or the station staff for directions. Tell the driver you want to go to Wat Tham Phra (Buddha Cave Temple). The fare is generally around 20-30 THB. The ride will take about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. Get off at the nearest point to Soi 7, and follow the signs or ask locals for the temple.

At the center of Chiang Rai, look for motorcycle taxis, which are often found near markets or busy streets. Negotiate the fare (usually around 60-100 THB) and inform the driver that you want to go to Wat Tham Phra (Buddha Cave Temple) on Sankhongluang Soi 7. This option is quicker and will take around 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic.

If you're feeling adventurous and are staying in the vicinity of Rop Wiang Sub-district, you can walk to Wat Tham Phra. Starting from the Chiang Rai Clock Tower, head west on Phaholyothin Road until you reach Sankhongluang Road. Turn left onto Sankhongluang Road and walk until you see Soi 7 on your right. Turn onto Soi 7, and continue straight until you reach the temple. This walk will take approximately 30-40 minutes.
