Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Mae Hong Son, start at the Mae Hong Son Walking Street. Head southwest on Ratchadamnoen Road (the main street) for about 1 km until you reach the Mae Hong Son Lake. Continue walking around the lake until you get to the intersection with the road leading to Khun Yuam District. Take a left turn onto the road (Route 108). Continue walking for approximately 10 km. Along the way, you will pass several local shops and scenic views. After about 10 km, look for signs directing you to Mae U Kho; the waterfall is approximately 5 km from this point. Follow the signs and eventually, you will arrive at Mae Nam Yuang Waterfall.

  • Public Transport (Songthaew)

    From Mae Hong Son town, go to the Songthaew (shared taxi) station, which is located near the Walking Street. Take a Songthaew heading to Khun Yuam District. The fare is typically around 40-50 THB. Inform the driver that you want to get off near Mae Nam Yuang Waterfall. The journey will take approximately 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the junction for Mae U Kho, exit the Songthaew and follow the signs or ask locals for directions to the waterfall, which is about a 5 km walk from there.

    Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Mae Hong Son. Start your journey from the town center and head southwest on Ratchadamnoen Road. Continue for about 1 km until you reach Mae Hong Son Lake. Cycle around the lake and then take a left onto Route 108 towards Khun Yuam District. The total distance to the waterfall is approximately 15 km, and the ride will take about 1-1.5 hours depending on your pace. Follow the signs towards Mae U Kho, and you will find the waterfall about 5 km from the junction.
