Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, the Westernmost point of Thailand is located in Mae Khong, Mae Sariang District, Mae Hong Son. From major cities in Western Thailand like Mae Hong Son, take Highway 108 south towards Mae Sariang. After approximately 90 kilometers, you will reach a junction; continue straight on Highway 105 for about 15 kilometers. Look for signs indicating Mae Khong. You will arrive at the coordinates (18.5739339, 97.3443047). Make sure to have a GPS or a map handy in case of poor signage.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transport, you can take a bus from Mae Hong Son to Mae Sariang. Buses run several times a day and tickets cost around 100-150 THB. Once you arrive at Mae Sariang bus station, you can hire a local tuk-tuk or songthaew (shared taxi) to take you to Mae Khong. The fare for the tuk-tuk is usually around 50-100 THB depending on your negotiation skills. Inform the driver of your destination using the coordinates or showing them the location on a map.

• Motorbike Rental

  An adventurous option is to rent a motorbike in Mae Hong Son. Rentals are available for about 200-300 THB per day. Follow the same route as you would by car, taking Highway 108 south to Mae Sariang and then Highway 105 towards Mae Khong. Always wear a helmet, and ensure you have valid insurance and an international driving permit.

• Taxi

  You can also hire a taxi from Mae Hong Son directly to the Westernmost point of Thailand. This is a more expensive option, costing around 1,000-1,500 THB for a one-way trip. Ensure you agree on the fare before starting your journey.
