Getting There

  • Car

    From the main entrance of Murchison Falls National Park, head south on the main road (A109) towards Masindi. Drive approximately 85 kilometers until you reach the junction at Masindi. At the junction, continue straight onto the road leading to Hoima. After about 20 kilometers, look for signs directing you to the Source of the White Nile. Turn left at the designated point and follow the signs for about 10 kilometers. This route should lead you directly to the Source of the White Nile. Make sure to have a GPS or map app handy as some signs may not be visible.

  • Public Transportation

    From the main entrance of Murchison Falls National Park, take a taxi or bus to Masindi. This journey will take about 1.5 hours. Once in Masindi, find a local bus or shared taxi heading towards Hoima. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the junction for the Source of the White Nile. After about 20 kilometers, you will reach the junction. From there, you can either walk (approximately 10 kilometers) or hire a local motorcycle taxi (boda-boda) to take you the rest of the way to the Source of the White Nile. Expect to pay around 20,000 UGX for the boda-boda ride.

  • Motorcycle Taxi (Boda-Boda)

    If you are already in Masindi, you can hire a boda-boda directly to the Source of the White Nile. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand, which should be around 50,000 UGX for the round trip. The driver will take you directly to the location. Ensure that you have a helmet and confirm that the driver knows the way to the Source of the White Nile.
