Car
If you're traveling by car from the Rwenzori Mountains National Park, head south towards Fort Portal on the main road. Follow the signs for Fort Portal, which is approximately 30 kilometers away. Once you reach Fort Portal, look for signs directing you to the Lake Nkuruba Nature Reserve. The campsite is located just off the main road, approximately 12 kilometers from Fort Portal. Ensure your vehicle is equipped for the terrain, as some sections may be unpaved. Parking is available at the campsite.

Public Transportation
To reach Lake Nkuruba from Rwenzori Mountains National Park using public transport, take a matatu (shared taxi) heading towards Fort Portal from the nearest town, such as Kasese. The journey will take around 1-2 hours depending on traffic and road conditions. Upon arriving in Fort Portal, you can take another matatu or boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to Lake Nkuruba. The ride from Fort Portal to the campsite will take approximately 30 minutes. Make sure to confirm the fare before your journey; expect to pay around UGX 10,000-15,000 for the matatu ride.

If you are already in Fort Portal, you can hire a boda-boda to take you directly to Lake Nkuruba Nature Reserve & Community Campsite. This is a convenient option as it allows for more direct travel. The ride should take about 30 minutes, and the fare is typically around UGX 15,000-20,000. Always negotiate the fare before starting your journey.
