If you are in the center of Bath, start at the Bath Abbey, which is a prominent landmark. From Bath Abbey, head west on Abbey Church Yard towards York Street. Continue onto Bridge Street, and cross the River Avon via Pulteney Bridge. After crossing, turn left onto the Parade Gardens path and then turn right onto the Great Pulteney Street. Continue straight until you reach the junction with the A36, where you will turn left onto the A36 (Wells Road). Follow the A36 for approximately 10 miles; you'll pass through the countryside and small villages. Once in Wells, turn right onto Vicar's Close until you reach your destination.

From Bath city center, head to the Bath Bus Station located near the Abbey. Look for a bus that goes to Wells; services such as the X39 or 376 operate frequently. Once on the bus, enjoy the scenic route for about 30 minutes. Upon reaching Wells, disembark at the bus stop near the city center. From there, you can walk to Vicar's Close by heading northwest on Priory Road, which will take you directly to Vicar's Close.
