Getting There

  • Bus

    From Chester City Centre, head to the nearest bus stop at the Chester Bus Interchange. Take the bus number 1 or 2 towards Wrexham. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Disembark at the stop for 'Chester Zoo'. From there, walk south on the A41 for about 15 minutes until you reach the roundabout. Continue on the A41, and then take the first left onto Chester Road. Follow this road for another 10-15 minutes until you reach the entrance to Walmoor Hill (Douglas Castle).

    If you prefer to walk, start at Chester Cathedral. Head southeast on St Werburgh Street towards the A5268. Turn right onto the A5268 and continue straight for about 1.5 miles. When you reach the roundabout, take the second exit onto the A41. After about 0.5 miles, turn left onto Chester Road. Continue walking for another 0.5 miles, and you will arrive at Walmoor Hill (Douglas Castle) on your right.
