Travel Guide to Dunfermline Abbey and Palace

Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head towards Dunfermline from your location in Fife. Use the M90 motorway, and take the exit for Dunfermline. Follow the signs for the town centre. Once in Dunfermline, drive to St Margaret Street where Dunfermline Abbey and Palace is located (postcode KY12 7PE). There is parking available nearby, but be aware that there may be parking fees.

• Public Transport - Bus

  For those using public transport, check local bus services that run to Dunfermline. Many buses connect from various towns in Fife to Dunfermline. Once you arrive at the Dunfermline bus station, it's a short walk to St Margaret Street. Head southeast on East Port, then turn right onto St Margaret Street, and you will reach Dunfermline Abbey and Palace.

• Public Transport - Train

  If you prefer traveling by train, take a service to Dunfermline Town railway station. From the station, it's approximately a 15-minute walk to Dunfermline Abbey and Palace. Exit the station and head southwest on Station Road, continue onto East Port, and then turn right onto St Margaret Street, where the Abbey is located. Be sure to check the train schedules for the latest timings and ticket prices.

• Walking from the Bus/Train Station

  If you arrive by bus or train, you can walk to Dunfermline Abbey and Palace. From the bus station, walk southeast on East Port, then turn right onto St Margaret Street. If coming from the train station, exit and head southwest on Station Road, then continue onto East Port and turn right onto St Margaret Street. The walk should take around 10-15 minutes.

• Bicycle

  For the more adventurous, you might consider cycling to Dunfermline Abbey and Palace. There are several cycle paths leading into the town. Once in the town, make your way to St Margaret Street. Ensure you have a lock as bike parking is not specifically provided at the Abbey.
