Car
If you are travelling by car, head towards the town of Tain. From Inverness, take the A9 south. After about 30 miles, take the exit for Tain (A836). Continue on the A836 until you reach Tain, then follow the signs for the A9. Once in Tain, follow the signs for the A9 towards Balintore. The Shandwick Stone is located just outside of Balintore along the coast. There is a small parking area near the stone, but be mindful of local parking regulations. Note that parking is free.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a train from Inverness to Tain. The train journey typically takes around 30 minutes. Upon arrival at Tain station, head to the bus stop outside the station and take the bus number 26 towards Balintore. The bus ride will take approximately 15 minutes. Get off at the stop closest to the Shandwick Stone. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance as services may be limited, especially on weekends.

If you prefer to walk from Balintore, it's a pleasant short walk from the village to the Shandwick Stone. From the bus stop in Balintore, head east towards the coast, following the path that leads to the beach. The stone is located just off the beach path, and the walk should take no more than 15 minutes. Remember to wear comfortable shoes, as the terrain can be uneven.
