Getting There

  • Car

    From the main visitor center in San Rafael Swell, head northwest on UT-10 N for about 4 miles. After 4 miles, turn right onto UT-24 E. Continue on UT-24 E for approximately 20 miles until you reach the junction with I-70. Merge onto I-70 E and travel for about 12 miles. Take exit 149 for UT-24 toward Hanksville. Once on UT-24, drive for about 15 miles until you reach the road leading to the Head of Sinbad. Look for a dirt road on your right marked by a small sign indicating 'Head of Sinbad'. Follow this road for about 5 miles until you arrive at the trailhead. Please be aware that a high-clearance vehicle may be required to navigate the unpaved sections of the road.

    If you are arriving via public transportation, the nearest major airport is in Salt Lake City. From there, you can take a Greyhound bus or a private shuttle to Price, Utah. Once in Price, you will need to rent a car as public transit options are limited in the area. Follow the same driving directions as above from Price: take UT-10 N, then UT-24 E, merge onto I-70 E, and follow the signs to Head of Sinbad. Make sure to check rental availability in Price ahead of time, as options may vary.
