Getting There

  • Walk

    Exit St. Peter's Basilica through the main entrance, facing the large square (Piazza San Pietro). Once outside, turn right and walk along the colonnades of Bernini. Continue straight until you reach the end of the square, where you will see the Via della Conciliazione street. Cross over to the other side and follow Via della Conciliazione, which will lead you towards the Tiber River. Once you reach the river, turn left onto Lungotevere, and continue walking for about 1.5 kilometers. You will see the Ara Pacis Museum on your right, located at Lungotevere in Augusta.

    From St. Peter's Basilica, exit the main entrance and head to the nearest bus stop located on Via della Conciliazione. Take bus number 81 or 91 towards the city center. Get off at the 'Piazza Augusto' stop. From there, head south on Via di Ripetta, then take a right onto Lungotevere in Augusta. The Ara Pacis Museum will be located on your left after a short walk of about 5 minutes.
