Walking
Exit St. Peter's Basilica through the main entrance. Once outside, head towards the right side of the Basilica and walk towards the entrance of St. Peter's Square. Continue walking straight across St. Peter's Square until you reach the far side, where you will see the colonnades. From the colonnades, you will see Via della Conciliazione. Turn left onto Via della Conciliazione and walk straight. After a short distance, you will reach a large intersection. Cross the street and walk up the hill on the left, following the signs to Gianicolo Hill (Janiculum Hill).
Walking
From St. Peter's Basilica, exit and walk towards the Tiber River. Turn right along the riverbank and walk until you reach Ponte Sisto, a pedestrian bridge. Cross the bridge, and once on the other side, head straight up the hill following Via Garibaldi. This will lead you directly to Janiculum Hill, where you can enjoy the scenic views of Rome.
