    Once you are inside St. Peter's Basilica, make your way towards the main altar, which is directly in front of you as you enter. As you approach the altar, look to your right (the south side of the basilica). You will see a semi-circular arrangement of walls with a large sculpture in the center. This is La Pietà di Michelangelo. Follow the signs that say 'Pietà' or ask a staff member if you're unsure.
