Getting There

Walking
From the entrance of the Vatican Gardens, head towards the main exit at Viale Vaticano. Once you reach Viale Vaticano, turn left and walk towards the intersection with Via di Porta Angelica. Continue straight until you reach Piazza San Pietro (St. Peter's Square). At the square, you will see the grand Basilica di San Pietro in front of you. From there, exit the square through the main gate and proceed down Via della Conciliazione. Keep walking straight until you reach the intersection with Lungotevere in Sassia, where you will then turn left. Continue walking along the riverbank until you reach the Ponte Palatino (Palatine Bridge). Cross the bridge, and you will find yourself on the opposite side of the Tiber River. After crossing, turn right onto Via della Bocca della Verità, and walk straight until you reach Piazza della Bocca della Verità, where the Mouth of Truth is located. The entire walk should take approximately 25-30 minutes.

Public Transport (Bus)
From the entrance of the Vatican Gardens, make your way to the nearest bus stop, which is located on Viale Vaticano. Board bus number 81 or 982 heading towards 'Piazza Venezia.' Once you are on the bus, stay on for about 10 minutes and get off at the stop 'Piazza della Bocca della Verità.' After disembarking, it's a short walk to the Mouth of Truth, which is located in the square right in front of you. This option will take around 20-25 minutes total, including waiting and travel time.
