Walking
If you are starting from St. Peter's Basilica, exit the basilica and head towards the right side of the square (Piazza San Pietro). Walk straight down Via della Conciliazione until you reach Castel Sant'Angelo. From there, cross the bridge (Ponte Sant'Angelo) and continue straight onto Via di San Giovanni in Laterano. Follow this road until you reach the intersection with Via dei Fori Imperiali. Turn left onto Via dei Fori Imperiali and continue walking until you see the Colosseum on your right. Keep walking straight, and soon you will see the Capitoline Museums on your left at Piazza del Campidoglio, 1.

From Piazza San Pietro, walk to the nearest bus stop at 'Piazza San Pietro'. Take bus number 64 (direction: Termini). After about 10 minutes, get off at 'Piazza Venezia'. From there, walk up to Via del Corso, then turn right onto Via dei Fori Imperiali. Continue walking straight until you reach Piazza del Campidoglio, where the Capitoline Museums are located.
