Getting There

  • Walking

    From the entrance of the Vatican Necropolis, head towards the main exit of the Vatican Museums. Once you exit, turn left onto Viale Vaticano. Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with Via della Conciliazione. Cross the street and proceed towards St. Peter's Basilica. Once at St. Peter's, walk around the basilica to your left and continue straight until you reach the entrance to the Giardino degli Aranci (Orange Garden). From here, follow the path that leads uphill to Aventine Hill. The entrance to Aventine Hill will be marked and is a pleasant walk through the gardens.

  • Public Transport - Bus

    From the Vatican Necropolis, walk to the nearest bus stop located at Via della Conciliazione. Board the bus number 81 heading towards 'Stazione Termini.' After a few stops, get off at 'Piazza Venezia.' From there, you can walk towards Aventine Hill. Head south on Via del Teatro di Marcello until you reach Via di San Gregorio. Continue straight to reach the entrance to the Aventine Hill.

    If you prefer a scenic route, after exiting the Vatican Necropolis, take the Via di Porta Angelica, heading east. Continue straight until you reach the Tiber River. Once at the river, turn left and follow the riverbank southwards. After a few minutes, cross the river at the Ponte Palatino bridge. Once across, head towards the Aventine Hill by following the signs pointing towards the hill. The walk will take you through beautiful areas of Rome.
