Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Vatican Pinacoteca, exit the building and head south towards the Vatican Museums entrance. Once you are outside, walk towards Viale Vaticano. Turn left onto Viale Vaticano and continue straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the intersection with Via della Conciliazione. Cross the street and continue walking straight until you reach the Tiber River. At the river, turn right and walk along the riverbank. After about 500 meters, you will come to the Ponte Palatino (Palatine Bridge). Cross the bridge, and after you cross, continue straight until you reach Piazza della Bocca della Verità. The Mouth of Truth will be located on your left side in the square.

    From the Vatican Pinacoteca, walk to the nearest bus stop at 'Rondella' on Viale Vaticano. Once there, take bus number 81 towards 'Stazione Termini'. Ride for about 10 minutes, then get off at 'Piazza Venezia'. From Piazza Venezia, walk towards Via dei Fori Imperiali, continue straight until you reach Piazza della Bocca della Verità. The Mouth of Truth is located in the square.

  • Public Transport - Metro and Walking

    From the Vatican Pinacoteca, walk to the Ottaviano-San Pietro metro station, which is about a 15-minute walk. Once at the station, take Metro Line A towards 'Anagnina' and get off at 'Termini' station (about 5 stops). From Termini, transfer to Metro Line B towards 'Laurentina' and get off at 'Colosseo' station (2 stops). Exit the station and walk towards Via dei Fori Imperiali, continuing straight until you arrive at Piazza della Bocca della Verità.
