Car
If you are driving from Portland, take I-84 East towards The Dalles. Exit at 64 for Hood River. Once you exit, turn left onto Highway 35 South. Continue for about 5 miles until you reach Old Columbia River Drive. Follow the signs for the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail, which will be on your left. There is no parking fee at the trailhead.

Public Transportation
To reach the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail by public transport, take the Columbia Gorge Express bus from Portland to Hood River. The bus departs from the Gateway Transit Center. Once you arrive in Hood River, it’s about a 10-minute walk to Old Columbia River Drive. Head west on Oak Street, then take a left onto Old Columbia River Drive to access the trail. The bus fare is approximately $10 one-way.

If you're in Hood River and prefer to bike, you can rent a bicycle from a local shop. Follow the same directions as above by heading to Old Columbia River Drive.
