Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head towards Dubuque, Iowa. From Interstate 35, take exit 297 to merge onto US-20 E toward Dubuque. Continue on US-20 E for about 40 miles until you reach the intersection with US-61 S. Take the exit toward Dubuque. Merge onto US-61 S and continue for approximately 5 miles. Take the exit onto Crystal Lake Cave Rd, and follow this road for about 1 mile. Crystal Lake Cave will be on your right at 6684 Crystal Lake Cave Rd, Dubuque, IA 52003. Parking is available on-site, and there may be a small entrance fee for the cave tour, so be prepared for that.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, the closest major bus station is in Dubuque. You can catch a Greyhound or similar service to Dubuque from various locations in Southwest Wisconsin. Once in Dubuque, you will need to use a taxi service or rideshare app (like Uber or Lyft) to reach Crystal Lake Cave, as public transit may not directly service the area. Expect a taxi fare of around $15-$20 for the trip from downtown Dubuque to the cave.

• Bicycle

  If you're feeling adventurous and want to bike, start from Dubuque city center and head west on US-20. There are bike lanes available for much of this route. Once you reach Crystal Lake Cave Rd, turn right and follow the road for about 1 mile. Make sure to wear a helmet and bring plenty of water, as this route can be challenging. The bike ride will take approximately 30-45 minutes depending on your pace.
