If you are traveling by car, start from the Old Faithful area, which is a central location in Yellowstone National Park. Head east on Grand Loop Road for about 16 miles until you reach the junction with the road leading to West Thumb. Turn south onto the road to West Thumb, and continue for approximately 5 miles. You will see signs for Yellowstone Lake. Once you reach the shore of Yellowstone Lake, look for a parking area near the West Thumb Geyser Basin. Park your car here and prepare for a short hike.

From the West Thumb Geyser Basin parking lot, follow the trail that leads toward the shoreline of Yellowstone Lake. The Wreck of the E.C. Waters is located on the eastern side of the lake, approximately a 0.5-mile hike from the parking area. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes, as the path can be uneven and may lead through marshy areas. As you approach the wreck site, you will have a clear view of the remains of the boat, which is partially submerged in the water.
