What to expect
Starting at this shrine which is probably the most famous in Kyoto city as it is the birthplace of Gion Festival. The festival has a history of more than 1,000 years and probably the most famous festival in the country.
Behind Yasaka Shrine, there is this park famous for its cherry blossoms. I will show the photos in spring time with the flowers.
This is the headquarters of Jodoshu sect of Japanese Buddhism and its gate as a wooden gate is the biggest in the world.
Nene-no-Michi
The street named after the wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a shogun in the 16th century.
Ishibe Alley
This stone passages district is calm and serene. You can feel the retro vibes of the ancient town with a history of more than 1,000 years.
Entoku-in
We briefly look at Entoku-in temple where Nene, the wife of the shogun, lived for 19 years after his passing.
There two slopes or staircases are located in the middle of Higashiyama area of Kyoto. Around these slopes, there are many traditional and quaint houses.
Yasaka Koshin-Do
A temple with three monkeys. A very famous spot for taking Instagram-able photos!
Yasakanoto
This ancient temple has the landmark, Yasaka Pagoda or Yasaka no To. The current structure has been standing for almost 600 years, one of the oldest remaining wooden structures in Kyoto. The temple's history has more than 1,400 years.
The temple is one of the 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kyoto. It is a must see place for tourists. It has a very famous protruding balcony.
