    From downtown Huntsville, head south on Memorial Parkway (US-231). Take the exit for Airport Road and continue east for approximately 5 miles. Turn left onto Cecil Ashburn Drive. The Blevins Gap Trailhead parking lot will be on your left. Parking is free.

    From the intersection of Cecil Ashburn Drive and Bailey Cove Road, walk east along Cecil Ashburn Drive for approximately 1 mile. The Blevins Gap Trailhead parking lot will be on your left. Use caution as you walk along Cecil Ashburn Drive.

Blevins Gap Nature Preserve is a natural escape located in South Huntsville. Managed by the Land Trust of North Alabama, this 1086-acre preserve offers diverse landscapes, including woodlands, rocky inclines, and scenic vistas. The preserve is divided by Cecil Ashburn Drive into two distinct sections. The southern section features about 8 miles of trails through mature forests, with varying difficulty levels. The northern section offers a more rugged experience with approximately 4.5 miles of trails, a rocky incline, and seasonal waterfalls. Blevins Gap's history is intertwined with the region's past. The preserve contains remnants of the "Spacewalk Trail," constructed by Boy Scouts in the 1960s. The northern portion, donated in 1988, was the first piece of land ever donated to a land trust in Alabama. The preserve is home to diverse flora and fauna. The preserve is named after the Blevins family, who settled in the area in 1809. The Bill and Marion Certain Trail is named after the individuals who provided much of the land for the preserve.
