Walking
From the Old Bazaar, the castle entrance is reached via a steep, cobbled street lined with souvenir and art stalls. The walk takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Be prepared for a strenuous climb.

Public Transport
From Boulevard 18 Shatori in the new town, a local city bus (costing around 30 Lek) can take you to Sheshi Çerçiz Topulli in the old town, closer to the castle entrance. From there, it's a short walk to the castle. The main bus station is located down in the valley near the intersection of 18 Shtatori Street with the main Gjirokastër-Tepelenë road.

Taxi
Taxis are readily available in Gjirokastra. A short taxi ride from the city center to the castle costs approximately 300-500 Lek. Confirm the price with the driver before starting your journey. VrapOn Taxi App is available for booking a taxi.

Driving
Limited free parking is available at the top of the hill near the castle entrance. However, the road is steep and narrow, requiring careful driving. As of 2023, a new road with parking and shuttle buses was under construction. Underground parking is available at Çerçiz Topulli Square. Additional public lots are located in the Old Town.
