Getting There

  • Shuttle Bus

    From the Grand Canyon Visitor Center, take the free Kaibab Rim Route (Orange) shuttle. The shuttle runs frequently, with stops clearly marked. Pipe Creek Vista is one of the stops on the route. No tickets are required. The shuttle is free and included with your park entrance fee.

  • Walking

    From Mather Point, follow the paved Rim Trail east for approximately 1.4 miles (2.3 km). The trail is mostly flat and offers continuous canyon views. Alternatively, from the South Kaibab Trailhead, walk west along the Rim Trail for about 0.9 miles (1.4 km). Be aware of other trail users, including cyclists, as this section is also part of the Greenway Trail.

  • Private Vehicle

    From Grand Canyon Village, drive east on Desert View Drive (State Route 64 East). Pipe Creek Vista is the first pullout on the left. Parking is available but can be congested, especially during peak season. If the parking area is full, consider continuing to the next overlook and returning later.

Pipe Creek Vista is a scenic overlook on Desert View Drive in Grand Canyon National Park. Situated east of Grand Canyon Village, it's easily accessible by car or the free Kaibab Rim Route shuttle. The vista provides panoramic views of the canyon, including Brahma Temple, O'Neill Butte, and the picturesque Pipe Creek Canyon. Compared to the nearby Mather Point, Pipe Creek Vista offers a slightly less crowded experience. The Canyon Rim Trail can be accessed here, offering a scenic walk west to Mather Point or east to the South Kaibab Trailhead. This section of the trail is also part of the Greenway Trail, making it accessible to bicycles. The vista gets its name from Pipe Creek, a tributary of the Colorado River. In 1894, a group of prospectors, including R.H. Cameron, discovered an old Meerschaum pipe near the creek, leading to its name.
