Cherry-Luter Estate: A French Eclectic Gem
Discover the architectural charm and rich history of the Cherry-Luter Estate, a unique French Eclectic landmark in North Little Rock.
Nestled on Scenic Drive in North Little Rock, the Cherry-Luter Estate offers a glimpse into the past with its distinctive French Eclectic architecture. Constructed around 1923, the estate, often called 'The Castle', is a prominent local landmark. The main house is a two-story structure built of limestone, complete with a gabled roof and a striking round tower at its southwest corner. Accompanying the main house is a carriage house of similar design, along with a charming pavilion featuring a half-timbered roof with exposed beams. A stone wall borders the property, which spans just under five acres. The estate was developed by John J. Cherry and later owned by the Luter family. The Cherry-Luter Estate was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992, recognizing its architectural significance. The French Eclectic style, popular in the U.S. from 1915 to the end of World War II, draws inspiration from historic French houses, resulting in varied designs. The estate remains a private residence today.
