The museum displays photographs, documents, manuscripts, books, and personal belongings of the poet, including school notebooks, certificates, and diplomas. A section recreates Sevak's Yerevan office. The lobby features a fresco by Sarkis Muradyan, depicting Sevak, his contemporaries, his wife, parents, and sons. The museum complex was designed by architect Jim Torosyan to include exhibition halls, a chapel-bell tower, and an amphitheater, but only the lobby was completed. Paruyr Sevak (1924–1971) was a prominent figure in Armenian literature, known for his poetry, literary criticism, and translations. He translated works by Adam Mickiewicz, Alexander Pushkin, and others, and his poems have been translated into many languages. Streets and schools in Armenia are named after him.
