Discover more about Wind Eroded Cave Lookout

Nestled within the Blue Mountains National Park, the Wind Eroded Cave Lookout is a testament to the power of nature's artistry. This captivating natural attraction features a remarkable rock formation sculpted by centuries of wind erosion, creating a unique wave-like overhang. The site offers panoramic views of the rugged landscape and lush valleys that define the Blue Mountains region. Also known as Wave Rock, the Wind Eroded Cave is more of a large overhang than a traditional cave. The wind-driven sand has slowly sandblasted the rock, resulting in the interesting shapes and patterns visible today. Visitors can climb up into the formation to appreciate its scale and capture stunning photographs, especially during sunset when the rocks glow with golden hues. The lookout is easily accessible via a short, well-maintained walking trail from the car park. This makes it an ideal destination for families and those seeking a less strenuous way to experience the beauty of the Blue Mountains. Nearby, the Anvil Rock Lookout offers more incredible views and is reachable via another short trail from the same car park.
