From the heart of West End, head east on Boundary Street towards the Brisbane River. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Montague Road. Cross Montague Road and continue walking on Boundary Street until you reach the end of the street. You will see the South Bank Parklands on your left. Walk through the parklands towards the river, and then follow the pathway along the riverbank, which will lead you towards the CBD. As you approach the city, keep an eye out for the large sign indicating George Street. Continue walking until you reach George Street, then turn left and walk until you see Old Government House on your right at 2 George Street. The total walk will take approximately 30-40 minutes, depending on your pace.

If you prefer to take the bus, you can catch a Brisbane City Council bus from West End. Head to the nearest bus stop on Vulture Street and take the bus number 199 towards the city. The bus ride will take around 10-15 minutes. Get off at the stop on George Street near the intersection with Alice Street. From there, it’s a short walk to Old Government House, which is located at 2 George Street. Make sure to check the timetable for bus schedules and keep a small amount of change or a Go Card ready for the fare, which costs around AUD 4.00 for a single trip.

CityCat Ferry
Another scenic option is to take the CityCat ferry. Head to the nearest ferry terminal on the Brisbane River, such as the West End Ferry Terminal. Board a CityCat heading towards the city. The ferry ride will offer you beautiful views of the river and will take about 15 minutes. Disembark at the North Quay ferry terminal. From there, walk towards George Street, turn left, and continue walking until you find Old Government House at 2 George Street. The ferry fare is approximately AUD 5.00 for a single trip, so ensure you have your Go Card or cash ready.
