Driving
If you're driving to Crater Falls, start from the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre. Head south on Cradle Mountain Road for approximately 2.5 kilometers until you reach the entrance to the Overland Track. There is a parking area here, but be aware that a national park entry fee may apply, typically around AUD 16 per vehicle for a day pass. After parking, follow the Overland Track signs leading to Crater Falls, which is about a 1.5-hour hike (2.5 km) from the parking area. The trail is well-marked and offers beautiful scenery along the way.

Public Transport
For those using public transport, take a bus from Launceston or Hobart to the town of Sheffield. From Sheffield, you can catch a taxi to the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre, which is approximately 30 minutes away. Once at the Visitor Centre, you can either join a guided tour that includes transport to the Overland Track or follow the driving instructions above from the Visitor Centre to reach the parking area for Crater Falls. Be sure to check bus schedules in advance, as they may not run frequently.

Hiking
If you're already within the park and prefer to hike, start from the Dove Lake car park. Follow the Dove Lake Circuit until you reach the Overland Track junction. From there, take the Overland Track towards Crater Falls. This route will take approximately 2-3 hours, depending on your pace, and is about 5 km in total. Make sure you have plenty of water and snacks, as amenities are limited in the area.
