Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving, start from the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre. Head southeast on Cradle Mountain Road for about 2.2 km until you reach the entrance to the national park. You will need to pay an entry fee to access the park, which is approximately AUD 16 per vehicle (as of 2023). After entering the park, continue on Cradle Mountain Road for another 7 km, following the signs to Dove Lake. Once you reach Dove Lake, there is a parking area available. From the parking area, you will follow the Hansons Peak walking track, which starts from the Dove Lake circuit. The track to Hansons Peak is well-marked and will take approximately 2 hours to hike up.

    If you're using public transport, take a bus from Launceston to Cradle Mountain, which is operated by Tassielink. Buses run several times a week, so check the schedule in advance. Upon arrival at the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre, pay the entry fee to the national park (AUD 16 per vehicle).
