Walking
From the Almsee parking area near Gasthof Seehaus, begin on the trail along the Almsee's western shore. After a short distance, turn uphill onto a small path that leads into the forest. The path will eventually connect to a gravel road; continue uphill, following the road until you reach the unmarked trail to the summit of Ameisstein. The hike to the top takes approximately 1.5 hours. Parking is free at the Almsee parking.

Public Transport
Take the ÖBB train to Grünau im Almtal station. From there, take a bus towards Almsee. Get off at the Almsee/Seehaus bus stop. From the bus stop, follow the signs to Almsee (approximately a 5-minute walk) and then proceed on foot as described in the 'Walking' guidance. Bus fare from Grünau im Almtal to Almsee is approximately €3-5.
