Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from the center of Punakha, head north on the main road towards Wangdue Phodrang. After approximately 15 minutes of walking, you will reach the intersection with the sign for the National Museum of Bhutan. Follow the signs to the right onto the road leading to the museum. Continue walking for about 30 minutes, enjoying the scenic views along the way, and you will arrive at the National Museum located in Paro.

• Bicycle

  Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Punakha. Begin your journey by cycling north towards Wangdue Phodrang. After about 2 km, take the right turn at the intersection indicated by signs leading to the National Museum of Bhutan. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes, and the route offers a beautiful view of the surrounding landscapes.

• Public Transport (Bus)

  From Punakha, locate the bus station which is usually near the main market area. Look for a bus heading towards Paro. The ride takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive in Paro, ask the bus conductor to drop you off near the National Museum. It is a short walk from the bus stop to the museum, following the signs that point towards the museum.

• Trekking

  For the adventurous, consider trekking from Punakha to Paro. The trek will take approximately 5-6 hours. Start early in the morning, heading north out of Punakha, following the trails that lead through the mountains. Be sure to carry sufficient water and snacks. Upon reaching Paro, follow the signs to the National Museum, which is a short walk from the main trekking path.
