Getting There

• Walking

  Start from the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong, the central landmark of the town. Head east on the main road (Phuentsholing - Wangdue Phodrang Highway) and walk towards the town center. After about 15-20 minutes of walking, you will reach the junction where the highway splits. Take the left fork towards Punakha. Continue walking for approximately 30 minutes until you reach a sign indicating the turn-off to Paro. Follow this road for another 20 minutes, where you will come to a bus stop. From here, you can catch a local bus heading to Paro to take you closer to the National Museum. The bus ride will take about 1 hour. Once you arrive in Paro, ask locals for directions to the National Museum, which is a short uphill walk from the bus stop.

• Bicycle

  Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Wangdue Phodrang. Start at the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong and cycle east along the main road (Phuentsholing - Wangdue Phodrang Highway). After about 15-20 minutes, take the left fork towards Punakha. Continue cycling for about 30 minutes until you arrive at the junction leading to Paro. Cycle for about 20 minutes until you reach the bus stop. Here, you can catch a local bus to Paro. The bus ride will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive in Paro, follow the signs or ask locals for directions to the National Museum, which is a short uphill ride from the bus stop.

• Hiking

  Begin your hike from Wangdue Phodrang Dzong. Follow the path eastwards, which leads into the hills. This hike will take you through beautiful landscapes and local villages. After about 1-2 hours of hiking, you will reach the main road. Follow the road to the left towards Paro. Continue walking until you reach a bus stop where you can catch a local bus heading towards Paro. The bus ride will take approximately 1 hour. Once in Paro, the National Museum is a short uphill walk from the bus stop. Just ask locals for directions if needed.
