Pico Penedinho, a small mountain in Penedo, offers a rewarding, short hike to panoramic views of the village, surrounding mountains, and part of Itatiaia National Park. A cement cross at the summit marks the spot where enslaved people of the former Fazenda Penedo placed an original cross a century ago.

From the center of Penedo, walk along Avenida das Mangueiras towards Rua Harry Bertel. Turn onto Rua Harry Bertel and continue until you reach Casa do Chocolate. Obtain your free permission ticket here. Continue along Rua Harry Bertel until you see the wooden gate and Pico Penedinho sign. The trail begins here. The hike to the summit takes approximately 20-30 minutes. There are no costs associated with this final approach.

Several bus lines, such as P530, P531, PE22, PE24, and PE25, stop near Pico Penedinho. From the bus stop on Avenida das Mangueiras, walk towards Rua Harry Bertel. Turn onto Rua Harry Bertel and continue until you reach Casa do Chocolate. Obtain your free permission ticket here. Continue along Rua Harry Bertel until you see the wooden gate and Pico Penedinho sign. The trail begins here. The hike to the summit takes approximately 20-30 minutes.
