Discover more about Memorial House Arthur Dalmasso

The Casa da Memória Arthur Dalmasso serves as a historical and cultural repository for the municipality of Teresópolis. The building itself, originally known as Villa Cecília, was constructed in the 1920s by then-mayor José Lino de Oliveira Leite as a tribute to his wife, Cecília da Silva Leite. After his wife's death, the property was sold and served various purposes, including a school (Ginásio Teresópolis) and hotels (Hotel Atlântica and Hotel Savoy). In 1987, the city government acquired the property and, in 2009, it was reinaugurated as the Casa da Memória Arthur Dalmasso, named after Arthur Dalmasso, a local doctor, artist, and writer. The museum houses a collection of historical photographs, books, antique objects, paintings, coins, and other items that narrate the history of Teresópolis. It also hosts temporary exhibitions and events to engage the community and celebrate the city's heritage. Visitors can explore the building and its collections, gaining insight into the social, cultural, and political development of Teresópolis. The museum also functions as the headquarters for the Serviço de Patrimônio Histórico, Artístico e Cultural do município (Service of Historical, Artistic and Cultural Patrimony), further solidifying its role in preserving and promoting the city's cultural identity.
